Waah Taj!
Capital of the Mughal empire for more than hundred years, Agra is a witness to some of the most remarkable architectural works. A Trip to Agra, the fabled city of the Taj Mahal is an unforgettable experience. Making it to the list of the seven wonders in the world, the Taj Mahal cannot be missed when you are in town!
We will start this day a bit early. Our representative will meet you at your hotel/ address in Delhi and give you a quick brief about the tour.
Set out in your private car and we will drive to Agra on the excellent Delhi- Agra Yamuna expressway. The drive will take approximately 04 hours.
On arrival, proceed to visit the Taj Mahal. Described as a teardrop on the cheek of eternity, this monument is truly a wonder of the world. The iconic Taj Mahal is not only an architectural masterpiece, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the Seven Wonders of the World – it’s also the enduring legacy of a royal love story. It was commissioned in the 15th century by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan after the death of his wife, Mumtaz Mahal, to serve as her final resting place and a symbol of his eternal affection for her. Combining Islamic, Persian, Ottoman Turkish and Indian design elements, it’s an awe-inspiring structure of elegant domes and white marble, which changes color along with the light – pink at sunrise, pearly white in the afternoon and silver-gold in the full moon.
Take a quick stop to gorge on some mouth-watering delicacies the city has to offer. After lunch, we will visit the Agra Fort, one of the most significant Mughal forts. It was among the first monuments in India to be declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983.Take your time to admire the intricate carvings and pure marbles used in the making.
Next, we will stop for some tea/coffee at the Sheroes Hangout. Started in December 2014, this is a café run by acid attack survivors. Besides the amazing coffee and lip-smacking snacks what you will also find here is a will to live, the courage to look beyond ones past and the hope of a brighter future in the eyes of these women. A visit to this café is sure to leave you humbler, grateful, and motivated to fight against all odds.
Our final stop for the day will be the Mehtab Bagh. The gardens in the Taj are perfectly aligned with the ones here and the view of the Taj from here, with the setting sun in the background is spectacular. Enjoy some breath-taking views as the sun goes down.
We will now return to Delhi in your private car. The drive will take around 04 hours. On arrival we will drop you at your hotel / address for the day.
